Hebei Changhua Star Vehicle Co.,Ltd.
Welding quality of tank bodies is the core guarantee for the safe operation of tank semi-trailers. Especially for hazardous chemical transport tanks, welding seam precision directly determines road transport safety, vehicle service life and operating costs. Recently, the 2026 Annual Welding Skills Competition of Hebei Changhua Star Vehicle Co., Ltd. was successfully held in the production workshop. Certified frontline welders of the company competed on-site through practical operation and theoretical assessments covering full-working-condition tank welding processes. The event polished welding techniques via professional contests and continuously improved the full-process quality control system for tank truck manufacturing.

Co-hosted by the company’s Technical Center, Quality Department and Labor Union, the competition mainly aims to upgrade the practical proficiency of frontline welders and consolidate quality standards for core welding procedures in tank truck production.
Open to all certified welders from each production workshop, the contest attracted dozens of professional participants, covering all mainstream welding processes required for mass production of the company’s full range of tank trucks. All assessment criteria are fully aligned with real production scenarios:
Core practical test items: Flat welding, horizontal welding, vertical welding, overhead welding and other typical working positions
Uniform test specimen standards: All test plates and welding consumables are identical to raw materials used for mass-produced tank trailers. Test results can be directly applied to optimize production quality in workshops.
Sparks and welding arcs filled the competition venue. All contestants followed standardized operation procedures to complete the full workflow including groove cleaning, assembly positioning, arc striking, uniform electrode movement, arc crater filling and post-weld slag removal.
Special competition zones were set up for stainless steel and aluminum alloy special tanks, which pose prominent industry welding challenges: Stainless steel welding requires strict control of heat input to avoid intergranular corrosion; Aluminum alloy welding is prone to oxidation, deformation and porosity defects. All participants accurately controlled molten pool temperature, delivering evenly formed welds with regular fish-scale patterns, demonstrating solid expertise in thin-walled special tank welding.
The judging panel consists of authoritative professionals including non-destructive testing engineers from the Quality Department, welding process engineers from the Technical Center and external senior welding experts from the industry.
Tank welds are not merely internal manufacturing components — they are critical parts that directly impact the operational safety and economic benefits of logistics enterprises.
During vehicle operation, tank bodies bear alternating loads from liquid sloshing, impact stress from road bumps and thermal expansion & contraction caused by temperature differences. Weld seams are high-risk zones for stress concentration. Internal defects such as incomplete penetration and slag inclusions will gradually expand into cracks under long-term service, triggering medium leakage. For transportation of flammable, explosive and corrosive hazardous chemicals, weld failure may lead to severe safety accidents and corresponding legal liabilities.
Standardized, high-quality welding reduces tank corrosion risks, extends vehicle service life and cuts post-operation maintenance costs. Lightweight stainless steel and aluminum alloy tanks impose stricter requirements on welding workmanship. Poor welds become weak points for leakage and rust, drastically shortening vehicle service cycles and lowering long-term profits for logistics companies.
Adhering to the production philosophy of "Weld Seams Equal Lifelines", Hebei Changhua Star Vehicle regards welding process control as the core module of its full quality control system. This skills competition serves not only as a technical contest, but also an intensive training to strengthen quality and safety awareness among all welders. It delivers the brand quality commitment to tank truck purchasers worldwide: every weld seam can undergo professional inspection.

The welding skills competition is a vivid demonstration of Changhua’s long-term quality control system. The enterprise has established a complete welding management process covering raw material incoming inspection to finished vehicle delivery, ensuring reliable welding safety for every tank semi-trailer supplied to customers:
All tank welding operations follow standardized welding procedure specifications (WPS). Custom welding procedures are formulated according to plate material, thickness and joint type, defining key parameters including welding method, consumable model, current, voltage, preheating and interpass temperature. Welding without approved WPS or beyond standard scope is strictly prohibited.
All welders hold special equipment operation certificates before taking posts, with fixed positions assigned for specific welding processes. The company organizes regular welding skill training and technical briefings, and maintains independent quality files for each welder. Primary weld pass rate and NDT pass rate are directly linked to performance bonuses, motivating frontline workers to continuously improve their skills.
Key welds undergo radiographic or ultrasonic non-destructive testing in accordance with national standards; 100% manual visual inspection is carried out on all weld appearances. Before delivery, all tanks complete dual pressure and air tightness tests to completely eliminate hidden dangers of sealing failure and structural weakness, preventing defective vehicles from entering the market.
At the award ceremony, the company’s technical director stated that tank semi-trailers carry cargo as well as heavy responsibilities for transport safety. Welding, as the core procedure of tank truck manufacturing, allows zero negligence in workmanship. Hosting the annual welding skills competition aims to foster an in-house craftsman culture featuring technical competition, process learning, standard breakthrough and pursuit of perfection, embedding quality control awareness into every single weld seam.
In the future, Hebei Changhua Star Vehicle will continuously increase investment in training welding professionals, iteratively optimize tank welding processes, improve tank processing precision and structural reliability, and supply safe, durable and low-maintenance professional tank semi-trailers to hazardous chemical transport enterprises worldwide.

Brief welding sparks witness long-lasting craftsmanship. The annual welding skills competition marks a new starting point for quality upgrading at Changhua Special Vehicle. For logistics and hazardous chemical transport companies, selecting professional tank trucks with qualified welding workmanship delivers solid safety protection for fleets. Hebei Changhua Star Vehicle stays committed to precision manufacturing.
